He’s the best dad because his competition is Rafe (who can’t manage to have a conversation with his daughter without kicking her out of the house) and Datak (who insults and plots to kill his in laws). So there is that. Actually, I take it back, Sukar’s probably the best at parenting generally.
I totally agree, Nolan is the best parent on the show, but don’t agree with your assessment of the ptsd issue. For instance how do we know Irisa’s race can’t have ptsd? For all we know Nolan could’ve known Irathient soldiers after the war who did have ptsd. And how traumatic was Irisa’s past? I’m betting it was bad enough to cause ptsd. Sure Nolan could’ve asked some Irathients about her visions, but how do we know they wouldn’t have tried to take Irisa away from him or that they would’ve even told him the truth? After the war the goodwill between the races would’ve been delicate at best. Look at how it is right now after years of work. It’s okay but it certainly is rocky. So under his circumstances, taking Irisa to a doctor may have been his best option. He didn’t know they were real visions. How could he? I don’t believe he was trying to make Irisa deny her heritage or hate who she was or be afraid of herself. He was just doing the best he could for his daughter. That makes him a good parent.
